"Me-Space"

And no, I'm not talking about some kind of overly sarcastic version of MySpace where only the most neurotic people are allowed on, and in order to start an account, you first friend has to be Woody Allen.

Damn... that sounds like a great pitch, doesn't it?

MOVING ALONG!

I find that as the years creep by, I want more and more time alone. And when I say alone, I'm not talking about having a friend over and quitely watching movies, playing Xbox and putting my hand in my pants like Al Bundy... no.

When I mean alone, I mean ALONE!

Here's an example: The other day, I was talking to a friend for a couple of minutes, when it strikes me that he has absolutley nothing interesting to say whatsoever. So I stand there, in what can only laughingly be referred to as a "Living Room" in my tiny apartment, staring at my cell phone and wondering, "I wonder what he would think if I just hung up on him?" and deeply pondering, "What's the appropriate amount of time to let him know that I have a life and want to get back to living it?"

Keep in mind, however, that I genuinely care about this person... so imagine how I would respond if I didn't give a shit about whoever insists on intruding into the realm of banal minutia that I call my day-to-day. That's right, I just say, "Hey, I've got to go.." and instead of just giving the them a minute to say, "Alright, well I'll talk to you later..." I hang up.

That's right, I said it...

I'm part out-going and part introvert... always have been, but when people call me unannonced to talk about something that I think is unimportant, I tend to tune them out. Now here's the problem with my cell phone: It's pre-paid.

So basically, every minute that I spend on my cell is literally costing me money, and I'm losing what little patience that I have left after I come home from work to yak on the phone for hours at a time. In fact, even when I had a regular phone in my apartment, I was exactly the same way.

Personally, if you call me, and you ask me what I'm doing and I tell you I'm doing something? Keep it short... that's all I'm saying here, folks. The only reason for that is: When I call someone, I ask them if they're busy, and if they are, I'll call them back later or ask them to call me back.

"Why?" you ask?

Because it's rude to assume that everyone else that you know has absolutely nothing going on whenever you call, and therefore also assume that, although you might be really good friends, they actually want to stop whatever they're doing just to talk to you.

I admit, when I call my friends, they typically will talk to me out of courtesy, but honestly folks, if you have something to do, be honest, even if it's just watching a movie that you've seen a million times, cling to the things that cheer you up, you know?

And I guess that's it for this post, everyone...

Have a great weekend.
